Resin Block Lamp
These block lamps are made of resin cast inside a wood block, from which a slice has been cut. Before the resin is poured into the form, high-output LED’s are wired up between the wood blocks. As the resin hardens it cools and cracks slightly due to the rigidity of the cast/form. These serendipitous cracks add a nice visual element to the design and also affect the way the light refracts.
The lamps are powered by used low voltage cell-phone chargers, usually between 5 and 12 volts. Over a kilo of resin is used for each lamp.
